A copy remote control is a handheld transmitter used to duplicate the signal of an existing garage door or gate remote. Products in this category usually have buttons that can each be taught a signal, so a spare can match the function of the original. The copied signal is sent to the opener, which then responds as it would to the original handheld.
Copy remote controls suit households and property users who want an extra handheld for a garage door or gate they already operate with an existing remote. They are useful for sharing access with a family member or for keeping a spare on hand. Anyone who wants a second remote without replacing the opener's original system may find this category practical.
Start with the garage door or gate opener you already use, because the spare has to work with that system. Check that the remote is a learning type, which takes the signal from your original remote. Think about how many buttons you need and whether you want a spare for one door or several. Keep the original remote close at hand during setup so both units are available to match.
Do I need the original remote to make a copy?
The copy method works with two remotes, so the original and the spare must both be on hand. Press the A button on both at the same time until the light stays on, and the copy is successful.
How do I clear a learned code?
Press the A and B buttons at the same time until the light flashes. Keep the A button held, then press B three times until the light flashes again.
Are the other buttons copied the same way?
Yes, the other buttons are copied in the same way as the A button, using the two remotes together.
What comes in the package?
The package has one remote control, and it comes with its battery.
What encoding method does it use?
It uses learning code encoding, so it learns the signal from the remote it is copying.
